How to get rid of small glaze defects on Sanitary ware ceramics permanently.
Whether it is a big chunky Fire Clay Sink or a one-piece Vitreous China WC, produced in China, North America, or the Middle East, small glaze defects like pinholes, crawling, and iron pits occur on some (3-15%) of sanitary ware ceramics after first firing. From the manufacturer's point of view, it may turn to a nightmare to refire the whole piece for a tiny defect. But sales teams and dealers rightfully demand a flawless product.
There are two ways to deal with them: refire or Light Cure Repair (Cold Repair/UV Repair).
Refire
Refiring is the conventional method. Although it works almost flawlessly, it is expensive, time-consuming, and comes with a huge risk—the whole piece can turn to scrap (sometimes up to 50-60% scrap rate) after second firing. Depending on gas prices, it is also quite expensive even if everything goes according to plan.
Light Cure Repair
The alternative method is cheaper (20-50 times), faster (100 times), and completely risk-free. Anyone can complete the repair process in less than 5 minutes. Historically, light cure repairs had limitations in visual invisibility and durability. However, NNREPAIR has solved these shortcomings:
- Color matching: We match color values of Light Cure Repair material and Glaze; DeltaE is always close to "zero".
- Opacity/translucency matching: We match the opacity levels of glaze for a visually undetectable repair.
- Adhesion: Special nano-scale filler technology ensures polymerization shrinkage is close to 0%, meaning no gaps or circles around the repair patch.
- Long Lasting: Thanks to our single-step primer system, UV blocking agents, and special inorganic pigment system, no color change or fading occurs even after years of sunlight exposure.
- Cost effective: A fraction of refire cost—probably the single most cost-effective method for the whole plant.
- High Gloss Surface: Passes the ink test thanks to unique nano-sized filler technology. Almost behaves like glaze if repair is done according to protocols.
